Meet Pastor Matt
I was called as Pastor to First Southern Baptist Church of Imperial in August of 2015. My wife, Kelly, and I have four children: Levi, Abigail, Mason and Caleb. I started teaching God’s Word to middle school boys when I was a senior in high school at my home church, Parkburg Baptist, in Pinson, TN. While studying at Jackson State Community College, I served as a semester missionary for the Baptist Student Union and was called to be the part time Youth and Children’s Minister at Beech Bluff Baptist in Beech Bluff, TN. God then called me to be full time Minister of Students and Children at First Baptist Church Bemis in Jackson, TN, where we served for 5 years. After serving 6 years in Student and Children’s Ministry, I surrendered to the call of Pastor of Clover Creek Baptist Church in Medon, TN. I served there for four years before answering the call to move to the Imperial Valley. I earned my Associates degree from Jackson State Community College and a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. I am currently seeking a Master’s Degree in Discipleship and Church Ministry from Liberty University. My heart is to see today’s church go beyond the walls of the church building and be the hands and feet of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My desire is to see Jesus back where He belongs, in the center of our church, homes, families, marriages and in our personal walk with Him. We are to be the shining light of Jesus.
